1. There are no 11b contracts, they are all 11x contracts 2. There are 11 RASP class's each year So they drop option 40 contracts all during the year, as they determine what they need in the regiment. So it can take up to a year, to get an option 40 contract.

If you do not receive an Option 40 contract, you can either wait for new contracts to become available or attempt to volunteer for Ranger service during your Basic Combat Training (BCT), One Station Unit Training (OSUT), Advance Individual Training (AIT), or while attending Airborne School.

I am just being persistant on obtaining the option to guarantee a slot at going to rasp and I spoke to my recruiter about Option 40 and asked if I could wait for a spot to come open and he said "We don't do that." He told me to find multiple MOS's I want. The thing is that if I enlist, I want an Option 40 because everything I have read states that having it in your contract is the only way to guarantee you a shot at Rangers.
